How much does it cost?
With the economy on the forefront of everyone's mind, I want you to know that as a father of 5, I fully understand and appreciate how important a family budget is. I also want you to understand that there are many factors that many people do not understand in regards to how a martial arts or karate studio is run. I have outlined some facts for you to consider when researching which school is going to be the correct one for you.
Not All Martial Arts or Karate Schools are the Same! Not all Martial Arts or Karate Schools are the same. Before making price the number one issue, you need to meet the instructors and see their school, learn about their curriculum and talk with their parents. If you base your decision strictly on price, you are going to be very unhappy with the instruction. You are going to pay far more in the long run having to undo what was done than the savings you felt you were receiving because the price was cheap. Not to mention all of the other programs that you will need to pay for your child to advance that are not included with the tuition. At Peak Performance Martial Arts, we charge one monthly fee and all of the activities are included with the monthly fee. We do not require you to pay seperately for above mentioned activities to advance in rank or to pay the Head of our Organization. We started our own organization and do not have a governing body that tells us what we can or cannot teach. A Story You Need to Read People who know of my 20+ years of martial arts background occasionally ask me what they should pay for their children’s lessons or even for their own. Recently, one of my friends called me. He had just visited a school and was shocked at what they were charging! I gave this response.
What are martial arts lessons worth to the shy little boy who never raised his hand in class for lack of confidence? The world of education is passing him by. Gaining the self-esteem to raise his hand and to actually ask questions is worth how much?
What are lessons worth to a single Mom struggling to make it with a young son that lacks focus, motivation and self-discipline? What is it worth if after just several months of training there were tears in her eyes when she and her young son came in to the school with his first ever report card containing A’s!
What are lessons worth to the little eight year old girl, whose lessons gave her the ability and skills to fight off a male attacker right outside her house, while her parents were right inside? Kicking the stranger hard enough in the shins that he let go of her long enough for her to run away. As a parent, I get worried just thinking about such things. But I am sure those parents will never question the value of those lessons.
What are lessons worth to the Mother of a young teen who has attempted suicide because he felt his life was worthless? What are lessons worth to the Father with chronic back problems that vanish after several weeks of the stretching exercises before class? What's the increased life span for the Dad looking to vanquish his stress after long days dealing with difficult people and finding serenity just punching and kicking with some new found friends?
What are lessons worth to the nurse grabbed from behind as she unlocked her car coming off the night shift at a hospital? Thanks to a self-defense oriented system that showed her how to use keys and other every day objects as emergency weapons. What are lessons worth to the person who due to stress, was on the verge of suicide whose life has been turned around due to his training and who also claims he is happier than he has ever been in his life? In a world of gangs, drugs and school shootings we all think it will never happen to our kids.
What's it worth to parents to have the extra peace of mind of having their teen involved in the pursuit of physical and mental excellence, while learning the value of respect for themselves and others surrounded by a positive environment of discipline and learning?
What is a child's confidence and self esteem worth? What is it worth to experience the joy of self-discipline, focus, motivation and persistence? What is less stress and better health worth? More importantly, should you ever have to face a threatening situation, what is your life worth?
As a father of 5, I fully understand that we are all price conscious. However, shopping by price as if you were purchasing a new television or washer and dryer, could be the worst mistake you could make for your child, yourself or your family. Not all Martial Arts Schools are the same. Not to mention the fact that a professional Martial Arts School, like the one we run, is not an extra-curricular activity. We are a Professional Development Program, with a professional, internationally certified full time staff. We do not have full time jobs and do this in the evening for fun or as a hobby. The staff are all married and have children, so we understand what you deal with at home. Combined my staff has over 80 years experience in developing children, and adults for that matter to become the best physically, mentally, emotionally and psychologically developed person they can be. You should go in and visit the school and the instructors before you find out about price. If the instructors are not the best fit for your family, I do not care if the lessons are free, they will cause far greater harm than good.
